Launch of the Intellectual Disability Mental Health Core Competency Framework: A Practical Toolkit for Mental Health Professionals

3DN, with support and funding from MH-Children & Young People, has launched theIntellectual Disability Mental Health Core Competency Framework: A Practical Toolkit for Mental Health Professionals, which is a companion document to theIntellectual Disability Mental Health Core Competency Framework: A Manual for Mental Health Professionals.   The Toolkit outlines practical ways in which mental health professionals can provide quality mental health care to people with an intellectual disability. It also provides details on assessment tools and resources to support professional development, and ways in which managers and service developers can implement the previously launched Core Competency Framework in their services.

The Toolkit was officially launched by the Hon. Tanya Davies, Minister for Mental Health at a Research to Action Day on July 25th, 2017. The day showcased new resources for professionals and carers in the area of intellectual disability health and mental health.
