A new publication uses data from the BEACH program to explore why people with an intellectual disability present to general practice

A recent collaboration between 3DN and FMRC found that administrative rather than medically related reasons dominated presentations to general practice for people with an intellectual disability. They found an underrepresentation of presentations for core physical health and preventive health measures and call for GPs to be opportunistic when a person presents for administrative reasons in the initiation of health screening for common medical conditions.
