What does contribution mean to you?

We asked people with lived experience of intellectual disability about how they contribute to their families and communities. Here is what they said.

About the Valued Contribution Project

The contributions that people with intellectual disability make to the lives of others often go unrecognised. The love they bring to relationships with family and friends, unique perspectives, shared effort and purpose in community activities, and as agents of social change.

People with intellectual disability build bonds, bridges and linkages that enrich us all.
Marie, Ellie, Matilda, Jerrah, Ben, Sarah, Alessio, Christian, Nick and Daniel are some of the participants in our project Measuring Outcomes That Matter: Valued Contribution project, which aims to develop measures for the contributions made by people with intellectual disability.

We hope this project will challenge deficit-based paradigms and be pivotal in debates regarding NDIS assessments and funding.
