What changes do you look forward to from the Disability Royal Commission?

Sue, Katrina and Tahli from 3DN say what they hope to see as a result of the Royal Commission.

The Disability Royal Commission has made its final report.

It has said what should happen to improve the health of people with intellectual disability.

In this video Sue, Katrina and Tahli say what changes they look forward to from the Royal Commission.

Sue says ‘‘I am looking forward to doctors understanding us and hearing our questions. Because most doctors don’t know how to talk to people with a disability.”

Katrina says “I am looking forward to communication getting better because sometimes nurses understand me, but sometimes they don’t.

And nurses changing the way they explain health care information so everyone can understand.”

Tahli says “I am looking forward to using Easy Read documents when I see health care professionals.

Because people with disabilities need access to health information. Easy Read helps to include us in our own health decisions.”

This video was co-produced with 3DN employees Sue, Katrina and Tahli.
